Bring on The Longwear Lipsticks!
Pucker up, buttercup, we’re putting our lips to the kiss test! Is there anything worse than being out to eat with girlfriends or networking at an event and wondering if your lipstick is fading as you chat and snack? Or maybe you give your special someone a smooch and all of a sudden you’re both wearing red on your lips! Well worry no more friends, because we’ve put several of the top rated long wear lipsticks to the test to bring you the best, long lasting lip colors!
The Lipsticks We Tested

- Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick
- Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint
- Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick
- NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Lightweight Liquid Lipstick
- Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor
- Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick
A Quick Tip [or two] When Applying…
Tip #1 – Allow it to dry between coats! When applying longwear lipstick, the right approach can make it stay on longer and appear better! Apply one single coat and let COMPLETELY dry before applying a second coat. This could take a few minutes, but be patient so your results pay off! You’ll want to wait and allow each coat to dry before applying the next, and repeat until complete! And don’t rub your lips together like you might with a traditional lipstick! Just let those babies dry! No rushing out the door and applying your lippy with longwear! A little patience at the beginning will have long term benefits throughout the day and evening!
Tip #2 – Don’t apply back and forth – move in one direction as you’re applying! Try to move in one direction when you’re applying the lipstick [still allowing it to dry between coats], rather than applying in small back and forth motions! This will keep your coats thin! Once that coat has dried, then you could move in the opposite direction or give it a good outline [again, allowing it to dry between coats]!
How We Tested
How do you test long wear lipsticks, you ask? Well, my friends, you simply wear them all day! A few of the LIY Team members and LIY Ambassadors stepped up to the challenge and picked our favorite colors from each product. There’s no doubt about it, a few of us were rocking bright pink lips with athleisure in the school drop off line! It’s a hard job testing lipsticks, but someone’s gotta do it! We simply applied and noted how the different lipsticks wore throughout the day while eating, drinking, kissing, etc!
And The Winners Are…
Best Overall Longwear Lipstick
Anastasia Beverly Hills
Best Overall Long Lasting Lipstick: Anastasia Beverly Hills
The Anastasia Beverly Hills lipstick was a fav across the board, and we absolutely loved it! It went on smooth and stayed on all day without flaking or fading! Just make sure to do thin coats! Eat, drink, and be merry wearing this lipstick, knowing it’s not going anywhere!
While it’s not the cheapest one we tested, it was well worth every penny to have a lipstick that stays on and is smooch proof! As one of the girls said, “it felt like velvet on my lips.” Mmm mmm good. That’s my kind of lippy, and we can’t recommend this one enough for our best overall! Now we’re going back for all the colors!
Best Drugstore Lipstick
Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick
Best Drugstore Long Lasting Lipstick: Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick
Moisturizing, creamy, stays all day [8+ hours!], tons of colors, and budget friendly! This one was a bit thicker [just make sure you apply thin coats!] but is a great lower priced option that you can trust! You may need to touch it up a bit after eating and drinking, but the majority of it stays right where you put it!
And there you have it! The two long lasting lipsticks we’d recommend for daily wear, from workplace to date night and beyond! Now the hard part: picking your favorite color!

When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.
