Come on over, come on over baby! Welcome to our virtual block party, friends– make yourself at home. Wiping your feet and removing your shoes: not required. ‘Tis the season for patio updates, so the LIY Team took it upon ourselves to [virtually] spruce up our spaces. Today we’re sharing a few ideas to make your curb the most appealing on the block. Because nothing compliments a mound of Amazon packages on a doorstep quite like curb appeal, am I right? Let’s get this party started!
ERIN
It’s no surprise here that I love to incorporate color into any space in [or outside] of my home when possible. I am so happy that yellow is making a big statement when it comes to front doors – how fun is this lemon door mat to welcome your guests as they arrive? I’ve always loved the idea of a porch swing so when I spotted this all-weather option that you can have hanging all year long, it was a no-brainer to add it into the mix! I am most excited about the light fixtures I found as I love the modern vibe they bring to the space. All in all, this front door situation makes me so happy and hope that it brings the same joy to future guests.

We are looking to buy a new home in the next year, so putting this together was so fun to do as I dream of what our next place might be! Keeping it super neutral and modern with a little hint of industrial is one of the looks that I love! The clean lines and the use of black metal keep it crisp, while wood planter boxes and a fun patterned door mat warm things up for a welcoming home entry. Thanks for stopping by my virtual front door, you are welcome any time!
HANNAH
Black, white, neutrals and tiny pops of color are pretty much my style in life and in my home lol. My front porch style preference is no different! I’ve noticed the more I stick with neutral colors and add in small pops of color, I’m less inclined to redecorate every 3 months lol. We are also getting ready to repaint the exterior of our home and I can’t wait for the finished product of all of our home updates!

The first thing that people see when they pull into our driveway is a little man-door next to our garage. And that man-door gets no love [currently a lovely shade of orange-red]. I have plans to change the paint color to a navy, add on a smart lock, knocker, and some fun decor like plants and wreaths! I believe this is what they call “from drab to fab!”
CLAIRE
After college, I moved into my first apartment of my own. While home renovations aren’t in the cards for me at the moment, I had so much fun with this project! Hey a girl can dream, right? It’s never too early to start planning ahead. I love classic, traditional, and somewhat rustic styles. I’ve found that a neutral color palette makes it easy to swap out seasonal decor and keep up with the latest Pinterest trends. Someday I’ll invite you to sit and stay awhile, but for now I’ll be living vicariously though my Pinterest boards!
Founder and creator of LIY, Erin turned her dream of a hobby blog into a full-time career which she now runs alongside the LIY team! When not in front of her computer screen [with a La Croix or wine in hand] or in front of a mirror taking mirror selfies, you can find Erin spending time on the water, cuddled up with her two pups and husband most likely watching the latest Shark Tank episode, or getting lost in an easy beach read.
As much as I love shorts season [aka summer] I sometimes despise the actual “denim shorts season” itself. Shorts can be tricky. Sometimes they are too tight, too short, too loose and the list of all of the discomforts of shorts goes on. Today, we’re here to put some of those discomforts to rest and […]
If there’s one trend I’m happily hopping on board with, it’s the white sneaker rage. Maybe they never went out of style, maybe it’s more socially acceptable than ever to wear tennies with every. single. outfit. Either way, I’m here for it.
If there is one thing I have learned over the past year of life it is that 30 minutes on a bike can change your life in the best way possible. After years of hearing how great a workout on a stationary bike can be, Shawn & I finally decided to put the pedal to […]
The LIY Virtual Book Club was born in 2020 as a way to connect with you, our LIY Community, and to encourage each other to hit the books– virtually. Our first official meeting was a success [as in, we laughed and sipped wine which is considered a success in my book 😉 ] and we’ve […]
