When it comes to shopping, I am typically a girl on a budget. You know, the girl who walks straight to the back of the store to find the clearance racks while not allowing herself to even glance to the side on the way there. However, there are certain pieces that I will always believe are worth the extra dollars. As I have gotten older [and so much wiser, obviously ;)] I have learned that there really is a difference in the durability, quality, and longevity of certain items and that sometimes paying more up front equates to paying less over the years. Today I thought I’d share those pieces that are worth the spend in my opinion.
All of the pieces below came from Nordstromas I love their big ole selection of women’s contemporary clothing, accessoriesand shoes and I also appreciate their always FREE shipping and FREE returns, especially when I am making spendier purchases. Having that safety net not only gives me peace of mind when ordering an item [or ten] but also tempts me to try some pieces that I may not have otherwise.
With all of that being said, here are my “worth the spend” pieces that will leave you satisfied for years to come!
There is nothing better than a quality handbag that is going to last forever and ever. Bags go through a lot of wear and tear so when you can find one that will not only stand up to the abuse that we put them through but also look absolutely adorable in the process, well that is worth it to me my friends.
When deciding on a bag that you know you want to have around for awhile, I would suggest sticking with neutral colors that you can pair with just about anything. I am obsessed with this new Kate Spade bagwhich has all of the classic colors – tan, black and white.
I like a bag that is going to hold everything necessary [including my laptop] and that can work well when traveling. This one meets both of those criteria so check, check and done! You can view a ton of other options here!
2. A classic pair of denim
Girls, jeans can be your best friend. When you find that pair of denim that not only fits you amazingly well but feels and looks amazing too, it’s like the clouds part and the sun always shines on you. Basically. When spending a good amount on a pair of jeans, I want them to be in a wash that I love and are great basics that can be worn year round. As much as I love distressed jeans, I typically save the spend for the classic non-distressed skinny jeans. I recently have fallen in love with FRAME denim [specifically this pair]. A great pair of jeans can you last you nearly forever and with as much as we wear them, it’s so worth finding [and buying] those pairs that you know will be in style for years to come. Side note – try not to wash your jeans that often and always air dry to keep them around for longer yet!
3. A classic pair of nude heels
Nude is the new black. I own these exact ankle strap sandals in four or five colors now, that’s how great they are. I love the classic look that nude can add to any outfit, it’s always an understated accessory that can go a long way in completing any look. Sam Edelmanis one of my favorite shoe brands as I find all of his shoes to be super comfortable and mighty durable! Shoes have most definitely become my biggest investment as I get older. Our feet and comfort are SO worth the extra dollars in my opinion.
Last but not least, a classic everyday tee. I will always be willing to spend a few extra dollars on a tee that I can rock every day of the week if my heart so desires. It has to be soft, has to fit like a charm and has to hold up after wash after wash. This one does just that!
It’s amazing how these four basics can pull together to create such a classic, feminine, chic look.

I found myself with a quiet house this morning for the first time in over a week. I love nothing more than having everyone home together, but my soul needs time alone too. As soon as everyone was off to school, the silence was quickly filled with the rumblings of my not-yet-fed stomach which got […]
