Entering Back Into Reality. Kinda.

2014

I am feeling every little bit of overwhelmed right now as I try to settle back into reality today. The great things about partaking in really exciting things is that they are really exciting to partake in. The not so great thing is that it makes coming back to reality two thousand times harder than it normally is. The past few days have been a whirlwind of both awesome things and equally not awesome things. The bummer [and hard] part for me is that only the good topics can be shared on this blog for the time being. So I guess that’s just my disclosure to admit that while I am posting some fun life happenings recently, just know that I have also been sitting at my kitchen counter with my head in my hands crying about other things. Fortunately for me, I have no pictures of that to share. It’s truly astonishing how ugly I become when I cry. Anyhow, back to the fun stuff.

Last Thursday night I found myself in the front row of a Jake Owen concert because my friend is all of a sudden this ninja ticket buyer who has snagged several front row seats at concerts. Have you ever been front row at a Jake Owen concert? OH MY GOSH. I know that lusting over a married man is not something a married woman should be doing, but I am 100% convinced that married men themselves were lusting after Jake Thursday night. Aside from being ridiculously gorgeous, he has this charming captivating bad boy personality that draws you in like no other. Not to mention his voice and cute little dance moves. It’s a miracle I didn’t have to spend the majority of the concert in the bathroom if you catch my drift. I really hope the majority of you didn’t catch my drift because if so, this post is totally awkward now. Back to what I was saying though, the concert was hands down one of my favorites I have ever been to. Stop what you are doing and buy tickets to his show pronto.

I also somehow walked away with a piece of him [a guitar pick] so that’s obviously sitting directly next to me at all times now.

Within 24 hours of that excitement, I found myself 6 1/2 hours away in Lexington, Kentucky eating dinner with my husband and our good friends from Nashville. It’s always so good to see this girl via real face time.

After dinner we snagged a few brews and then ended the evening with playing Cards Against Humanity. I have never cried harder from laughing during a card game. Finally, a game that matches my maturity level. Also, I don’t mean to brag but I somewhat dominated this game and won. You better believe I’ll be adding this skill to my resume.

And that concludes the first half of my weekend. As mentioned yesterday, I will resume my recap of the Kentucky Derby in the next few days. For now, I’m off to see if I can find somebody who will answer my emails, fold my laundry, and go buy groceries for me. I pay in wine. Let me know if interested 😉
