1. Lightweight cardigan
It’s no secret I am always a fan of the lightweight cardigan. I wear these ALL year round, but mostly during the months where it’s a little cool, but not cool enough for a heavy jacket. I love that they can add some color to your wardrobe and the longer length! Easy to pair with tees, tanks and even button up shirts! If you don’t own a lightweight open cardigan, I would highly recommend getting one stat. You’ll amaze yourself with how often you wear them, at least I did!
2. Colored denim
Colored denim is everywhere these days. I love that your legs can instantly turn into delicious colors of olive, burgundy, or heck, pink polka dots if that’s what you’re into. It’s a fun way to bring color into your wardrobe without having to try too hard. I went with wine on the bottom [when in doubt, always go with wine] and olive on the top. Some people like olives in their beer, I like mine on wine 😉  `
3. Utility Vest
This one is a real shocker, I am sure 😉 Who doesn’t love the utility vest these days? I’m surprised my dogs aren’t wearing them yet. Probably my favorite layering piece as you can wear them a million different ways [or at least seven – proof here] as they look great over every arm length and give structure to any top. But..as we all know, days that start out cool and quickly heat up which leads me to my next item you want to have for transitional seasons..
4. A large toteÂ
Yes, I like things big. But in this case, there is a good reason why [not that there ever isn’t a good reason but you know what I mean. Maybe. Anyhow.] When you are dressing in layers for the day, you’re most likely going to want to remove a piece or two as the day heats up. Well, friends, you need somewhere to put those layers. Good news – a large handbag will have you covered! This oxblood beauty is just all sorts of yes.
5. Plaid shirtÂ
Kinda obsessed with these. If you follow me on Facebook, you may have seen where I recently styled it 4 different ways [peep it here]. Super soft, hence the name, and screams fall. I almost feel like you have to wear a plaid shirt at some point during the month of October or you’re breaking a law. Stay legal, buy plaid.
6. Sweater dress
First of all, check out the grey hair. Hi, I’m 31 and have a plethora of grey hair. Hence why my hair is dyed blonde again. Brunettes and grey hair do not fair well. Back to the matter at hand though, a sweater dress. These are awesome because you can wear them bare legged and booties or with leggings as winter proceeds. I can’t get enough of cozy fleece and I’d like to think it can’t get enough of me.
7. Open toe booties
Open toe booties are the bees knees when it comes to those weird transition months. It’s warm enough that you don’t have to be all bundled up but hello, it’s fall so YOU HAVE TO WEAR BOOTIES. Sorry, that’s another law. You can get away with these typically until it’s near freezing or snow falls. Unfortunately at that time, back they go into the closet until spring rolls around but goodness, they are too cute to not have on hand in times of bootie need. Jeans or dresses, these will walk you through all paths of life. That was a shoe pun. You’re welcome.
8. Sunglasses
I know, now you’re like wait, whaaaaaaat? SUNGLASSES? Isn’t that a summer item? You’d think so huh? Well, I’m here to tell you that fall can be even sunnier, but especially more sunny during the times you’re driving to or from work every day. I swear every time I drive in the fall the sun is blinding me. Have a trusted pair of sunnies on hand at all times and you’ll be golden.
9. Lightweight jacket
But preferably a jacket that has ruffles and little bell sleeves and is freaking adorable. I’m a sucker for this olive green color as I feel like you can pair it with so much. Denim, wine colored pants, black pants at work, navy, it doesn’t matter. Layering is your friend, embrace it in all of its glory.
10. Scarf
Sweet ole scarves, can you ever really have too many? Please say no. These are the easiest way to add some texture, pattern or colors to an outfit! I feel like scarves have those magic powers of making you look like you know how to dress while you still secretly have no clue. It’s like they are wrapped all around our neck while looking at everybody else saying “jokes on you”. And for that reason, I will always continue to wear scarves.
